Great stuff! It would be good to (eventually) be able to see where players are taking their shots ... might we find that player X, who appears to be a 40% shooter, is actually a 45%-quality shooter who just happens to take difficult shots? And if that were true, what would it mean?

I'm looking forward to seeing what apbrmetricians can do with this data.

As I mentioned, I might go through how to write a script to download them in bulk in a future post. If you just want to download them one at a time, enter the URL (for one of the shot chart or zone game-by-game stats files) into your browser and a dialog should pop up asking you if you want to download it. Just save it to your computer as a .txt file and then open it up to view it (or you can leave it as a .jsp file, but then you might have to open it not by double-clicking but by going into a text editor like Notepad and opening it from there).

Great stuff! I was thinking of developing some PL/SQL code for capturing all stats off the web and calculating the advanced stats and then publishing the code to the APBRmetrics forum. This will be something I will look into capturing.

Interesting.

I'll check back to see what more you post.

I am not that software savvy so I haven't figure out the right steps to download and view these text files yet. If you leave it for folks to do themselves a fuller step by step instruction would be appreciated.

Thanks.
